Plant a Legacy Tree

Families Who Have Experienced the Loss of a Child Hold a Sacred Place In Our Mission.

This kind of loss is stunningly painful—disorienting in a way that shakes the very ground beneath you. It leaves behind an overwhelming love with nowhere to go.

Planting a legacy tree is the act of honoring life, love, and legacy by planting trees that embody the spirit of aloha — compassion, peace, connection, and remembrance. It’s about growing living memorials that continue to give back to the Earth, while carrying the memory of those we love.

The Aloha Tree Project has put together A Tree Planting Guide for Grief, Legacy and Creating Healing Spaces for Hearts and Land to support families in the midst of such grief, offering gentle guidance and tools to help create space for that love—through meaningful acts of remembrance that grow into living legacies of life and renewal.

By planting trees in honor of a child, families not only keep their memory alive but also give back to the earth and their community. Through this process, we hope they find healing through helping—transforming their grief into a powerful act of care that nurtures both the land and the hearts of those around them.

At The Aloha Tree Project, we believe in the healing power of nature and the enduring strength of love. Our mission is to offer families a meaningful way to honor the memory of a child or loved one by planting a tree in an area of need — a place where life, renewal, and community growth can take root.

Each tree becomes a living tribute — a symbol of remembrance, resilience, and the love that continues to grow even in loss.

We also understand that grief doesn’t end, and neither does love. That’s why we invite families to create annual tree-planting opportunities in places that need both environmental and emotional renewal — including community parks, Habitat for Humanity homes, low-income neighborhoods, and public spaces like schools, churches and community centers. These efforts support not just ecological healing, but also provide peaceful, life-giving spaces that communities can enjoy for generations to come.

The Aloha Tree Project can help create heartfelt ceremonies that celebrate the life of your loved one. These gatherings offer a space for reflection, connection, and healing—bringing together family and friends in a moment of beauty, peace, and remembrance.
