2. Our second build, Lucas’s 22nd Birthday

Our second build took place with Tacoma / Pierce County Habitat for Humanity. At the same time, Lucas’s dad was in Maui, building in Kula with a crew of his friends and family. Many from our Maui team, along with family and friends who live in Washington, joined us in Tacoma to build and to plant a cherry tree in Lucas’s honor.

Our time together was deeply meaningful. With each build, I feel my son guiding me—showing me what to share and how to continue spreading love in his name. We set up a photo board filled with pictures of Lucas and the many people connected to him who were present that day. We shared lunch together and handed out small, heart-shaped wooden tokens engraved with the words “Building for Love” in honor of Lucas Robert Banks.
