7.Additional Work Done in Lucas’s Honor

In addition to our group builds and tree-planting projects, many smaller efforts have also been carried out in Lucas’s honor. We have volunteered to build cabinets and to work in the Habitat Store in Tacoma, and my parents have helped Habitat Maui build and decorate food-pantry boxes.

I am currently working with a group of youth in Lakewood to explore how volunteering and spending time in nature can support our own mental health and well- being as well as the well-being of our broader community.

A meaningful new addition to these efforts is the memorial scholarship fund established in his name, created to ensure that his spirit, kindness, and passion live on through the opportunities it provides for others. This memorial fund was started by Lucas’s dad and his family to provide students living in Leavenworth WA opportunities they may not otherwise have. Leavenworth is a place Lucas loved and where his dad resides.
